India

Since establishing its presence in the Indian market in 2002, CLP has consistently been one of the largest foreign investors in the country, maintaining a diversified portfolio of businesses spanning the entire energy value chain in the Indian market

Apraava Energy owns and operates a portfolio of wind and solar power projects across India. Its assets also include the Jhajjar supercritical coal-fired power plant located in the state of Haryana. As at 30 June 2025, CLP’s attributable generation capacity in India remained at 1,974 megawatts. During the period, the Group continued to diversify its portfolio into the transmission sector, with investments in both intra-state and inter-state transmission projects across central, northwestern, and northeastern India.

In 2018, we welcomed global institutional investor CDPQ as a strategic shareholder, further strengthening CLP’s India platform and enhancing our ability to capture investment opportunities in low-carbon and sustainable energy.

Apraava Energy actively engages with local communities in the regions where it operates, with a particular focus on health and education initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents.

Looking ahead, Apraava Energy will continue to support India’s economic and social development by adhering to the highest international standards of operational excellence and safety, while providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity services to millions of people.
